Housing Amenities in India

Housing is considered to be of utmost importance for every individual along with the basic amenities, which is considered as a key element in the process that directly or indirectly contributes to the development of the nation. From the past years, there has been an increasing concern regarding the availability of housing. Problems regarding housing have existed for a very long time. However, the issue has been vitalized recently as the awareness about government’s responsibility for housing has broadened. In order to examine the conditions of the SCs/STs in terms of living condition the present book is being prepared with the help of recent census data of India. Affirmative action to balance discrimination has been the outline of public policies towards the socially disadvantaged communities in India. A study on this issue can focus on the points made by earlier policies and help in new policy making, ultimately causing some development for the country as a whole and ultimately to reduce housing inequality. Recently, released data of Census 2011 provided this opportunity to recall the issues related to housing amenities.
